Adoption Support for Birth Mothers in Illinois

If you're facing an unexpected pregnancy, you deserve support—no matter what you decide.

If you choose adoption in Illinois, you can receive real, practical help.

We want you to understand, babies are not a commodity. They are not for sale. In every state, including Illinois, baby selling is illegal. That does not mean that you can't receive support and help for ALL your pregnancy expenses.

What Support Can I Receive?

When you make an adoption plan, you're eligible for:

Rent and utilities support. If your living situation isn't safe, we can help you relocate.
Maternity clothes and medical expense coverage.
Groceries and personal items. We can provide a prepaid card for daily needs.
Transportation to medical appointments.
Babysitting for any other children while you attend appointments.
Free counseling—before and after birth.

These resources let you focus on making the best decision—not on whether you can afford dinner.

Illinois Examples of Support in Action

Alyssa – Elgin, IL

Alyssa was couch-hopping and pregnant. Kathy from Heart to Heart Adoptions helped her move into safe housing and provided rides to her appointments. "That support changed everything," she said. "I wasn't eating just ramen noodles anymore—I had fruit and cheese and real meals."

Mei – Champaign, IL

Mei was studying at the University of Illinois and terrified to tell anyone she was pregnant. She received confidential help and food support. "They didn't judge me," she said. "They just helped."

Whether you're near the Shawnee National Forest or closer to the hustle of O'Hare International Airport, we can reach you.

What Happens After the Adoption?

Support doesn't end at the hospital.

You can still receive:

Grief counseling
Peer support
Help setting new goals and building a new future
