Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both.

Those are the first two lines in “The Road Not Taken,”  a well-known poem by Robert Frost.

As a birth mother you may be having those feelings. You want to travel two roads.

• You want to raise your child and witness that child progress and grow up.
• You also want to place your child where there may be additional opportunities.

Here is a truth—

Whichever “road” you take, you might be tempted to glamorize the road you didn’t take.

When we’re on a specifically chosen road, we see the bumps, the hills, the trials, the problems, the obstacles. We don’t recognize that there are also bumps, problems, scorching heat, and uncomfortable patches on the other road.

This is why the decision you make for your baby is YOUR decision. The road you travel is YOUR road.

You must decide.

You must stand in front of the two divergent roads and make a decision. That decision will make all the difference.
