At Heart to Heart we feel exceptionally fortunate none of our birth mothers have had significant issues with COVID-19.

This is consistent with what the Mayo-Clinic has said that the overall risk of COVID-10 to pregnant women is low. There is, of course, a caveat.  Pregnant women who have COVID-19 appear more likely to develop respiratory complications requiring intensive care than women who aren’t pregnant, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pregnant women are also more likely to be placed on a ventilator.

However unlikely, there is the potential for problems brought on by COVID-12. Because of this unlikely probability, you will need to be flexible, especially toward the end of your pregnancy. Some aspects of your labor and delivery might proceed as predictable.

Toward the end of your pregnancy, you should prepare to be flexible.  Some parts of your labor and delivery might advance as anticipated. To protect the health of you and your baby, some of the medical facilities Heart to Heart uses will screen you before entering the labor and delivery unit.

Many facilities are limiting the number of people you can have in the room during labor and delivery. Visits after delivery might be affected, too.
