Open Adoption in Idaho-

What Is Open Adoption?

Open adoption means you can stay connected with your baby’s adoptive family if you want.
It’s flexible — you decide how much contact you want, whether it’s letters, photos, phone calls, or occasional visits.

You always get to choose what works best for you and your baby.

When you call Heart to Heart, Michelle or Wendy will answer and listen to your story. They’ll connect you with a caring case manager — Jodi, Ashlyn, Haley, Stacy, or Kathy — who will explain all the options and support you in your decisions.

  • Open adoption means you can talk with and stay connected to your child and their adoptive family. How much you talk can be different for everyone. Many birth mothers like open adoption because it feels better than having no contact.

Open vs. Closed Adoption in Idaho

In a closed adoption, you have little or no contact with your child’s family until the child turns 18. You might choose this if you want privacy. There’s nothing wrong with choosing closed adoption if it feels right for you.

In a semi-open adoption, you get some updates about your child but don’t share personal information. This helps if you want to know how your child is doing but want some space.

Your Choices Are Always Respected

Open adoption can look different for every family:

  • You may want monthly letters and photos
  • You may want yearly visits
  • You may want no contact at all

Whatever you choose, your wishes are honored.

Kayla from Pocatello said, “I chose an open adoption. I get updates and photos, and I know my baby is loved. It helps me feel connected without being overwhelmed.”

Utah Apartments: A Safe Place to Prepare

Some women from Idaho decide to stay in our Utah apartments during pregnancy.
These apartments are safe, private, and close to other birth mothers going through similar experiences.

Amber from Idaho Falls stayed in Utah before her baby was born. She said, “Being around other moms and having Kathy check in on me every day helped me feel brave. We went on walks, watched movies, and talked through everything together.”

Why Women Choose Open Adoption

Open adoption lets you:

  • Watch your baby grow in a loving home
  • Keep a bond without full-time parenting
  • Feel peace and confidence in your decision

Lena from Boise said, “I didn’t think I could place my baby and still feel close. Open adoption showed me I could love her and let her have a safe, happy life.”

Our Hearts Connect App

Our Hearts Connect app helps families stay connected. This app is great for open adoption because you can easily talk with your child and their family. You can share pictures and messages. This makes it easier for everyone to stay close.

If you’re thinking about open adoption, remember you have choices! It’s about finding what works for you and your child.
