“When I started Heart to Heart Adoptions, I made a promise that we would give every woman the support she needs to make her own choice.”  — Donna, Founder

“I thought I only had two choices. I didn’t think I could parent, and I didn’t feel right about abortion. Learning about adoption helped me see I had more options.”  — Jessica, Ogden

We know this is one of the hardest things you will ever do. We also know that women who are supported, informed, and empowered make decisions they can live with and feel peace about. That is what we are here for.

What Are My Real Options If I’m Pregnant and Not Sure What to Do?

You have three main paths. Each comes with its own practical and emotional considerations. A counselor can help you think through all three honestly, based on your actual situation. There is no wrong question and no answer that fits everyone.

Option 1: Parenting Your Baby

Parenting is a real option, even if you feel unprepared. Resources in Utah include food assistance through SNAP, housing help, parenting classes, WIC for nutrition, Head Start programs, and social services support. If you are leaning toward parenting but are scared, talking to a counselor can help you understand what is actually available to you.

Option 2: Placing Your Baby for Adoption

Adoption is not what you may have seen on TV. You are not giving away your baby. You are choosing a family, building a relationship with them if you want, and making a plan that honors your child’s future and your own. Many birth mothers describe their experience as empowering. Many women say they feel calm with the decision. This is true if you are informed of the entire process.

At Heart to Heart, you are in control:

  • –Choose and meet the family if you want
  • –Stay in touch with your baby if you choose
  • –Get help with housing and expenses during pregnancy
  • –Have a counselor with you every step of the way

“I live in Moab, and there weren’t many services nearby. Heart to Heart helped me figure out my options even though I was hours away from Salt Lake.”  — Ashley, age 22

Option 3: Ending the Pregnancy

Here is what you need to know about abortion access in Utah:

  • –Abortion is available up to 18 weeks of pregnancy in Utah
  • –Beyond 18 weeks, it is allowed if your life is at risk, if you face serious physical health risks, if the pregnancy resulted from rape or incest, or if two doctors confirm a condition incompatible with life
  • –If you are under 18, parental consent is required
  • –Everyone must wait 72 hours between counseling and the procedure
  • –These laws may change over time — check with a provider for current information

How Do I Make This Decision?

  • Think about your values and beliefs, your current life circumstances including your support system and finances, your emotional and physical health, and the time you have to decide. It helps to talk with a trusted healthcare provider, connect with a counselor who specializes in pregnancy options, reach out to people who can support you without judgment, and take time to think about what truly feels right.

Can I Change My Mind After I Call You?

  • Yes. Calling us does not lock you into anything. You can explore adoption, look at family profiles and then you can still decide that parenting is the best thing for you and your baby. We will support whatever choice you make. Our goal is for you to feel certain and at peace, not pressured.
