What support is available for birth mothers in the Hudson Valley?

According to New York law most resources don’t start until your 8th month, but there are many things that we can do to help you find resources long before that 8th month. And certainly, if you are in an unsafe or toxic living situation, we can help you find a way to get out of that situation.

The Hudson Valley’s range means very different situations side by side. There’s Yonkers and White Plains that feel like cities. If you sign consent outside of court, New York law gives you a window afterward to change your mind. This means you are not rushed into making a decision.

Can I stay connected with my child after adoption in the Hudson Valley?

There are few states like New York that have a Post-Adoption Contact Agreement. We will help you decide what you want in this contact agreement and we will help you get it approved by a judge. Once approved by a judge, this agreement is enforceable by law. You choose how much contact.

A Hundson Valley Story of Adoption
The subways can be a maze of confusing for New York visitors. They are a daily reality for most New Yorkers. For Joan they were increasingly becoming more uncomfortable. Joan was commuting daily from Poughkeepsie to a job in Manhattan. The long commute and work made her wonder how she was ever going to find an adoption agency, find an adoptive family, talk to someone about all the legal aspects of an adoption and everything else she wasn’t even sure about.
One night after getting off the train she hit “call” on Heart to Heart Adoptions website. Michelle answered. Michelle has been answering for over 15 years, and she didn’t have a single suggestion for Joan for over 20 minutes. For 20 minutes, Michelle listened and then asked questions.
By the time Michelle felt she had enough information to help Joan start a plan, the pregnant woman had walked home, gotten through her front door, taken off her shoes, and was sitting in a comfortable chair. This is when Michelle explained about counseling online, choosing a family from the profiles that could be sent online. How these families could be interviewed on the phone or online.
Michelle sent everything Joan needed online. In the eight months of Joan’s pregnancy, Michelle suggested that they rent a small Airbnb close to Joan’s work. Joan wanted to work as long as she could and to go back to work as quickly as she could. The cozy room was rented for two months to give Joan some recovery time.
